The authors
Anthony Power
Born in Lancashire, Anthony Power is a graduate of University College Cork, in Ireland. His mother was a York-born Milburn, and he is a great-great-grandnephew of the York carver and sculptor, George Walker Milburn. His research on Milburn helped in the placing of a Blue Plaque on the site of Milburn's stoneyard at Bootham Bar, York.
He is the author, with the late Dick Reid O. B. E., of The Day Book of George Walker Milburn, York Sculptor and Carver (York Historian, vol. 33, 2017). With exclusive access to Milburn's Day Book and extant Ledgers and Work Books, he has written extensively on the artist, and compiled the definitive Catalogue of his extant works.
He is presently working on a biography of Milburn, York's Forgotten Sculptor.
Anton de Poer
Anton de Poer has been a failed architectural student, and a subsequent medical graduate. He has attained the age he always thought his father was, without acquiring the wisdom. After many years working in Newfoundland, the Middle East and Ireland, he lives in the Republic of Cork, in Ireland, with his wife and no dog.
